At the End of the Road

Anticipation. Wonderment. Excitement.  These were a few of the emotions running through me, when we finally pulled up to our worksite in Guatemala.  As we stepped off the bus, we were directed to walk down a road. A road where the jungle was pressing in on either side.  As I started down the road, tool belt slung over my shoulder, I wondered what we would find at the end of the road.

I knew there would be a family.  A single mom with her two children, who were homeless.  I knew there would be piles and stacks of building supplies.  I knew there would be an amazing experience and opportunity to share Jesus with the community.  What I didn’t know is what the Lord would accomplish in the lives and hearts of our team, our assigned family and the community.  And that’s the exact reason why we were there on that road Jesus had called us to walk to the end and see what He had in store for us.

Around Peace, we’ve been talking about what it means to meet people where they are.  The opportunities are endless. It could be at the end of a jungle lined road, but more likely your opportunity to bring Jesus to people will come in your daily life.  Jesus is needed at your workplaces, your families, your neighborhoods and your friendships.

As a congregation, I feel like we are standing, staring down a road. We are feeling anticipation, wonderment and excitement.  We know that something great awaits us at the end of the road, but what it is only the Lord knows.  But we can be assured that it’s gonna be good.

Please pray for the leadership of Peace as we spend this year exploring God’s will for our congregation.  Ask the Lord to provide us direction. Ask the Lord to give us confidence as we walk to the end of whatever road He has in mind for us.

LORD, Your will be done.
