Pray For Our Children

As our children and young people begin a new school year, they are stepping into new classrooms, new friendships, new challenges, and new opportunities. Some are excited, while others may be carrying nervousness, uncertainty, or even fear.
As a church family, let’s commit to praying for our children—not just on the first day of school, but throughout the entire year.
Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. What a beautiful responsibility and privilege we have, to guide our children in faith and cover them in prayer.
Let’s pray for their protection, remembering Psalm 121:7: “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life.” May God watch over them as they travel to and from school, in their classrooms, on the playground, on the bus, and wherever their days take them.
Let’s pray for wisdom and courage. James 1:5 tells us that if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask God, who gives generously. May our children have wisdom in the choices they make, courage to stand for what is right, and strength to be kind even when it is difficult.
Let’s pray for their friends and relationships. May they be people who encourage others, and may they find friends who encourage them. As 1 Thessalonians 5:11 reminds us, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
And most importantly, let’s pray that our children know Jesus and grow in their faith. May they remember that wherever they go, God goes with them. Joshua 1:9 reminds us: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you where you go.”
So, Peace Family, will you join us in praying for our children this school year? Pray for their protection, their teachers, their friendships, their decisions, and their faith.
Let’s cover our children in prayer and trust them into the hands of the One who loves them even more than we do.
A Prayer for Our Children
Dear Heavenly Father,
Today we lift our children and young people to You. As they begin this new school year, we ask You to go before them and surround them with Your presence.
Protect them wherever they go. Keep them safe from harm and give their parents peace as they place their children in Your hands.
Give them wisdom to make good choices, courage to stand for what is right, and kindness toward everyone they meet. When they feel nervous, remind them that You are with them. When they feel lonely, remind them that they are never alone. When they face challenges, give them strength to persevere.
Lord, bless their teachers, administrators, coaches, and every person who has an influence on their lives. Give them patience, wisdom, compassion, and the ability to recognize the needs of each child.
Surround our children with good friends who will encourage them, strengthen them, and point them toward what is good. Help our children be those kinds of friends to others.
Most of all, draw their hearts toward You. Help them grow in wisdom, in character, and in faith. May they know that they are wonderfully made, deeply loved, and created for a purpose.
Your Word tells us in Isaiah 54:13, “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.” Give them peace that goes beyond their circumstances and a faith that continues to grow.
As a congregation, we commit to praying for them, encouraging them, and walking alongside them. We trust our children to You, Lord, knowing that You love them more than we ever could.
Guide them. Protect them. Strengthen them. And let their lives shine brightly for You. In the precious name of Jesus,
Amen.
