Cling to Jesus

As some of you know, I have a friend thatʻs dying of cancer. The virus attacked his thyroid about 16 weeks ago and itʻs been vicious, rapidly elevating to stage four from stage two in just three weeks. Heʻs staying strong although he looks very frail now.
Ed, (not his name) has never been a believer. He was encouraged to attend church with his mother at a young age but his father never saw a “need” for God in their lives. Ed married a believer and her encouragement was looked upon as “nagging”.
As his illness has spread now and become more painful, he has questioned his wife and me about God. More importantly, he started asking a lot of questions about Jesus. Just last week he told me that it was time to stop putting all his faith in the doctors and reach out to a higher power, praise God!! The Spirit is opening his heart! We read together, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” Psalm 18. And Luke 18:27 “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
Just as Jesus calmed the waters on the Sea of Galiee, or how the early sailors would lash or tie themselves to main mast of a ship during a storm, we know that Jesus is our “refuge and strength” Psalm 46:1. He will “never leave or forsake us”! Deut. 31:8
We pray that Ed opens his heart completely to Christ Jesus and turns his life over to Him. Iʻd love to see him in paradise some day!!
