Sabbatical Thank You

In my greetings to you on Sunday mornings, I have often said that joining together to worship feels like a family reunion.  You are my church family – my brothers and sisters in Christ – and it is so good to gather together as family!  For Lisa, me, and our children, it’s been that way for over 35 years.  Family!  We are truly blessed!

Now we are embarking on a new adventure called retirement and we are excited to see what God has in store for us and for Peace.  I know it will be good, because God’s way is always best for everyone.  He will guide our family as He always has.  And He will direct our church family, too.  This is His church!

As I begin the sabbatical with which you have gifted me, I am awed when I consider the incredible gifts you have given us!  You have blessed us by allowing us to live life together with you all these years.  You have supported us in ministry and personally.  In our darkest times, God has gathered you to surround us with love to keep us from falling. Throughout, you have blessed us with laughter, joy, and kind words of encouragement . . . walking beside us through it all.  Now you have given us the gift of time away in the form of a sabbatical to help us adjust and grow as we are faced with yet another life change.  We will miss you during this sabbatical!   There is no doubt about that!  At the same time, with God’s help, we will do our best to honor this time as a gift well used, coming back refreshed and rested!

I couldn’t leave – even for a three-month span – without giving thanks and praise to God for all of you!  I simply MUST give Him all thanks and praise.  And I’m compelled to thank you, too, for all the kindness, support, friendship, and love that you have so freely given to me and my family!!

May our Lord bless you all with His very best!  We will look forward to making more memories together when we return in October.

God is so good!
