Daily Truths With Dave Ahlman
Well, after 25 years as the Senior Pastor at Peace, my brother, confidant, encourager and best friend, Pastor Dave Ahlman retired. There was a reception last Sunday at a large venue in Westminster. If you were not able to attend, you missed a great party! A lot of fun followed by a lot of tears. It was obvious that his sense of humor was passed down to his kids including their spouses!
Dave touched the hearts of many people in our congregation as well as outside the congregation. He had his share of “nay sayers” but no one could say that he didn’t love Jesus. No one could say that his sermons weren’t energetic and refreshing, no one could say that he didn’t have a deep love for Jesus his family, Peace Lutheran Church and all her people.
There are so many personal stories I could share about the love and craziness of Dave. There were the late night or early morning phone calls posing as a variety of characters and, my favorite, replacing a TV personality’s dialogue with his own. Hilarious!
Dave has a gentle, more “non-confrontational” management style. He hurts for those who were hurting and as I discovered, prayed continuously. He would be the first to admit that he wasn’t perfect and that he was a sinner like everyone else. As he said many times, Christians aren’t perfect but they are saved! Thanks be to God.
When you go to bed tonight, say a prayer for Dave and Beth as they enter this new phase of life. Pray also for “Daily Truths with Pastor Dave Ahlman”. This is his new podcast that will launch on September 1st. I know I’ll be listening. Like Dave has said, “there is no better way to start your day than with the word of God and the reassurance we have through his Son Jesus”!!
Well done Dave Ahlman, good and faithful servant!! God bless.
