Desires For a New Year
Well, a new year has arrived! And, just like the year before it, the new 366 days has come with much anticipation.
Saying goodbye to 2023 wasn’t real difficult for me. Considering that we almost drowned in the Florida Everglades, got bombed out of Israel and worst of all, we had our Rocky pre-season tickets lost in cyber land, I can say that we developed a whole new relationship with God. We’re still here and uninjured!!
Many people begin the new year with goals, hopes, dreams and perhaps a plan of action for all that they would like to accomplish. Exercise routines, healthier eating or, more quality time with family. I found that life goals and resolutions can be a great way to begin a year, so long as a health balance is maintained.
My resolutions usually follow a three-week duration. They are then forgotten, ignored, substituted or replaced by something less demanding. That being said, I decided to list some resolutions that others should adopt to make my life easier.
- Develop affordable health food that tastes good!
- Develop affordable hair replacement!
- Ban all political and drug commercials on television.
- Hire a new pitching staff for the Rockies.
- Start a news service that gives us truthful information!
What would really be cool is more people getting to learn that the gospel of Jesus, from His birth, life, death on a cross, and resurrection to heaven from the grave and deliver eternal life to those who turn away from sin and receive Jesus as the Savior. To make this new year the start of an eternity-changing journey toward becoming a child of God!!
ALL of us should let the following scriptures sink deep into our heart. The gospel, or good news of Jesus is a bright light to a dark world.
Romans 3:23; 6:23 “All have sinned and fall sort of the glory of God…. The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus”.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.”
John 14:6. “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Fatherexcept through me.”
If you believe the truths that you have just read, it is only fitting that you would want to share the rich hope of the gospel, especially at the beginning of a new year!
My God bless you today and throughout 2024!
