April Showers Bring May Flowers

This time of year always seems to sneak up on me!  As the snow comes down in December, I have visions of springtime and how I will go about staying on top of the weeds, digging up the soil, and planning out my big bountiful garden! In my head I am always going to be so organized!  And then…… April hits with a bang and May is finished even before I can say, “April showers bring May flowers!”  Although, I’m not sure that makes any sense this year!  😊  What on earth happened with my plan!?  I know that I need to prepare the soil and plant the seeds to reap the benefits of delicious vegetables, but stuff just gets in the way.

That’s kind of like our lives too, isn’t it?  We know what we need to do to accomplish something, but we just don’t make it a priority!  If we want to run a marathon, we need to train. If we want to make a certain soccer team, we need to practice!  If we want to get a scholarship, we need to study! Sometimes, this means we need to sacrifice something, to gain something else.

This coming week we will have at least 200 kids coming in our doors for Vacation Bible School.  Some will know who Jesus is, and some may not!  Some kids are attending VBS, and some are coming to help and lead!  Many hours have been spent planning and preparing.  Huge decorations have been created and assembled to make it fun!  As a church, we have the most amazing opportunity to plant seeds in these precious kids’ lives.  Many of you are sacrificing your time and energy to be WITH the kids during the week.   THANK YOU!  I have no doubt you will be a huge blessing to many but also may be blessed yourself!

Many of you are unable to help – that’s ok! You still have a very important job!  May I ask you to take some time to pray for us!?  Pray that every child is safe and protected!  Pray that friendships are made.  Pray for the people leading stations, and teaching about Jesus.  Pray for the set up and take down crews who will be doing manual labor.  Pray for the people leading. Pray for the youth helpers, many of which do not attend Peace.  Pray for the people preparing food.  Pray for our security team.  And finally, please pray for the Crew leaders, who will be spending time with the same group of kids all week.

I can’t think of a more important job than planting seeds about Jesus in children’s lives because….. without children, we don’t have a church!
